Instructor Certification Training

Taking The CFOS/I or CPCT/I Exam

Level: Instructor

Objectives: From this lesson you should learn:
How to prepare
for the FOA instructor exams
Procedures for taking the FOA instructor exams

Preparing For The FOA CFOS/I or CPCT/I  Instructor Certification Exam

The CFOS/I and CPCT/I exams cover both technical and teaching topics as covered in Lessons #1 or 1a and #2.

Note: The technical material and specific teaching material is very specific to the FOA certification programs. Experience has shown that even highly qualified, experienced instructors who do not use the FOA provided study guides often do poorly on the exam because they are not familiar with FOA recommendations and practices.

Instructors who fail the exam may take the exam again after taking time to study the materials covered on the exam.

Taking The Exam Online

Instructor certification testing is done online.

First send in an application to the FOA for the instructor exam. The FOA will contact the instructor with directions to take the test online.

The test is a closed-book exam that must be taken with no references or outside assistance.

Passing grade is 80% or above.

Read the directions on the exam carefully. As you probably warn your students, understanding the questions is necessary to choose the correct answer.

The test will be automatically graded and you will be informed of your score. Complete test results will be sent to the FOA.

DO NOT take the test more than once online! Each time you take the test, results will be sent to the FOA.

If you do not pass the exam the first time, you will be contacted by the FOA with instructions for study and retesting.
